DIPPER’S DELIGHT
Include water in your garden and something magical happens. Suddenly – overnight it seems – the arrivals begin. Water boatmen, long-tailed chaser dragonflies, perhaps great crested newt. If you want a safari in your back yard, start with a pond.

A green roof converts otherwise dead-space into a sanctuary of untrammelled wilderness. Most small garden sheds can be easily adapted for a rich roofing of sedums, grasses and traditional wildflowers. It’s a creative way to soften a hard and lifeless area.
